The Grocery List by Aisle

You have a grocery list scattered across three apps, two sticky notes, and a text from your partner. You want it in one list, organized by how your actual store is laid out, so you're not backtracking.

FreeNeeds your list, however messyAbout 2 min

Before you start

  1. Gather every version of the list. Screenshots and texts are fine.
  2. Open Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini.
  3. Don't tidy it first. Messy is the point.

Here is my grocery list. It's messy, it's from several places, and some things are probably duplicated. Reorganize it for me: 🛒 THE LIST, BY SECTION Group everything by typical grocery store layout, in the order I'd walk it: Produce, then Bakery, then Meat & Seafood, then Dairy, then Frozen, then Dry Goods & Canned, then Household & Other. COMBINE DUPLICATES. If milk shows up three times, it's one line that says milk. FLAG THE VAGUE ONES. If something says "stuff for lunches" or "that sauce," ask me what I meant rather than guessing. QUANTITIES. If I gave one, keep it. If I didn't, leave it blank rather than inventing one. Keep it plain and scannable. I'm reading this on my phone with a cart in one hand.

Blanks you leave empty stay as brackets, so you can fill them in later.

About food allergies: AI makes mistakes. It's told to leave your allergens out, but it can't promise a recipe, product or label is safe. Always read labels and ingredients yourself before anyone eats.

What to expect

One clean list in walking order, duplicates merged, and a short list of things it wants you to clarify. Most people find two or three items they'd have bought twice.

Make it yours

After your first trip, tell it: “My store actually has produce on the right and dairy in the back left. Reorder the sections to match.” Then save that version and reuse it.
