The Schedule Conflict Finder
Two kids, two activities, one of you, and a nagging feeling that something next Thursday does not work. You could sit down and map it out properly, or you could keep half-worrying about it until Thursday arrives and proves you right.
Before you start
- Gather everything. Calendar screenshots, the team schedule, texts from other parents, the sheet on the fridge.
- Open Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini.
- Don't organize it first. Dumping it messy is faster and it works.
You are helping me find the problems in my family's week before they happen. I'm going to give you everything I know about the coming week and I need you to find the collisions.
Who's in this household:
- Adults available for driving and logistics:
- Kids and ages:
- Anyone with a fixed schedule I can't move:
Everything I know about the week:
Give me back:
⚠️ THE ACTUAL CONFLICTS
Anything where two things need the same person in two places, or where the travel time between them does not exist. For each one:
- What collides, on what day, at what time
- Why it does not work
- Two or three realistic options for fixing it
🚗 THE DRIVING PROBLEMS
Anywhere a handoff is tight even if it is technically possible. Assume ordinary traffic and that leaving takes ten minutes longer than anyone thinks.
📊 THE SHAPE OF THE WEEK
- The most overloaded day, and what could move off it
- The lightest day, in case something needs relocating
- Any evening where nobody will have time to cook
❓ WHAT I HAVEN'T TOLD YOU
List anything you need to know to be sure. Missing end times, unclear locations, whether the other parent is available. Ask rather than assume.
RULES:
- Do not tell me to "consider simplifying our schedule." I know. Work with what's here.
- Do not invent times I did not give you. If something is vague, put it in the questions section.
- Flag the day nobody will have time to cook. That is usually the real problem hiding underneath the calendar one.
What to expect
The two or three genuine collisions, separated from the things that merely look busy. Most weeks have fewer real conflicts than they feel like they do, and seeing that is worth as much as fixing them.
Pro tip
Run this Sunday evening rather than Monday morning. A conflict found on Sunday has options. The same conflict found on Thursday has one option and it is usually a text apologizing to someone.
